HONO TAI

2022-2023

Census of cetacean species observable from land-based observation points around the island of Moorea.

Each week, 3 viewpoints are covered. The expected time spent in each zone is one hour. This format enables us to circumnavigate the island 4 times over the course of the project, making these encounters unmissable and accessible to the general public.

14 OBSERVATION POINTS
FROM THE GROUND

The aim: to understand and study if weather conditions have an impact on the distribution of species around the island. Then, to determine whether particular areas of frequentation can be defined between the months of July and October.

RAISING PUBLIC AWARENESS

Learn how to observe the sea in a different way, by sharing our experience and hearing each other's stories.

It's also an opportunity to prove to the people of Moorea that they can help us by collecting data on a regular or occasional basis from their homes or elsewhere.

PARTICIPATORY SCIENCE

ObsenMer is a participatory science program open to all, run by naturalist organizations.

This free application lets you report your observations in just a few clicks, helping to advance knowledge.
